It appears that America has awakened. On Saturday, millions took to the streets to protest the Trump presidency and what it might mean for this country. In Charlottesville, thousands gathered at the Ix Park to march in support of diversity and to protect our rights. In keeping with our efforts to find ways to be actively engaged, I offer the following options, which are very simple to do: [Read more…]
SURVEY RESULTS-and Next Steps
From the December 6 Community Meeting at Charlottesville High School
Just before the winter holiday, my team sent an Online Survey for you to indicate your level of enthusiasm for supporting ideas and initiatives that came from our “Silver Linings” community meeting at CHS. The survey presented a list of 11 strategies that percolated to the top and that we felt accurately summarized input from the meeting. We also created a Sticking Together Blog on my website, and shared a comprehensive list of all the comments from the meeting for you to view. Now, as promised, here is a summary of the survey results: [Read more…]
Ideas for Our Next Steps
During the Sticking Together Community Meeting on December 6th, more than 300 attendees participated in break-out groups to brainstorm ideas for our next steps moving forward after the presidential election. As promised, my staff and I have compiled ALL of the suggestions that were recorded that evening, and the full list of more than 100 suggestions is now available for your review (or to download) below. Citizens can submit comments there or provide additional information on any of those suggestions. An easy way to let us know what areas you’d like to focus on is to take the survey and rank the eleven top initiatives that came out of the meeting. [Read more…]

Sticking Together — Next Steps Recap
From the December 6 Community Meeting at Charlottesville High School
Our meeting, “Sticking Together in Challenging Times,” produced an outpouring of citizens with ideas about what we need to do next.
It was one of the most energizing meetings that I have attended in years. In fact, the crowd was so large and the ideas so many that it is taking a little longer to assemble them than we originally expected.
We will have a more detailed report soon, but, in the interim, we thought we should post this summary written by one of the attendees. While in no way exhaustive, it details some of the ideas, with links so you can make contact.
Thanks again to all who attended this meeting and contributed their ideas and energy. We are creating an online survey of the most frequently mentioned ideas from the meeting for you to vote to let us know what YOU think the next step priorities should be. We’ll also post a document of all of the ideas recorded at the meeting. [Read more…]
