It appears that America has awakened. On Saturday, millions took to the streets to protest the Trump presidency and what it might mean for this country. In Charlottesville, thousands gathered at the Ix Park to march in support of diversity and to protect our rights. In keeping with our efforts to find ways to be actively engaged, I offer the following options, which are very simple to do:
- Find one “voting buddy” per week. Find someone who will commit to voting against the Trump agenda and in favor of positive change and have them commit to joining your group. Set up a social media group with these voting buddies. Your voting buddies would commit to each other that you will remind each other to vote in this fall’s election.
- Post one article about what we can do a week to your Facebook page and encourage people to like it and read it.
- Make one call or write one letter to your Congressperson each week and send a copy to the local newspapers.
- Follow the news. As I said on the floor of the House of Delegates this morning (see below), there are no alternative facts: there are facts, and there are falsehoods. Read, watch and support reliable news outlets that understand the difference, locally and nationally.
